Norman Rockwell's first Willie Gillis cover for the Saturday Evening Post, the all American every-man soldier would make eleven appearances on Post covers from 1941 to 1956. The young model, Robert Buck, had a face that could reveal everything at a glance making him an ideal subject for Rockwell.
